Clinical Director & Speech-Language Pathologist

Elizabeth “Liz” graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from New Mexico State University in May 2001.  She then received her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in May 2003 from the University of Memphis School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology.  Since 2003, Liz has worked within the field of pediatrics serving children from birth to age 18.  Liz is the founder and clinical director of Brightsong, LLC and one of the speech-language pathologists at Brightsong, LLC.


Kalynn kalynnSmalley MS, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist 

Kalynn graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor’s in Science degree in Special Education in 2010.  Kalynn enrolled in Murray State University in 2011 to pursue a degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  She graduated from Murray State University in 2014 with her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  Kalynn has provided speech, language and feeding therapy to children in schools, rehab centers, homes and clinics.  Kalynn joined the Brightsong team in June 2014.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Mallory graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Disorders in 2013.  She then received a Master’s of Science in Communication Disorders from The University of Mississippi in May 2015.  Her clinical experiences have focused in pediatrics and she has extensive and personal experience working with fluency disorders. Mallory joined the Brightsong team in July 2015.

Occupational Therapist

Jennifer received her degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Memphis in 1998.  Since then, she has practiced in a variety of pediatric settings including inpatient and outpatient clinics and private practice clinics.  Jennifer has  served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Department of Occupational Therapy.  She has specialized training in hand function, handwriting, fine motor skills, feeding therapy, sensory processing therapy and working with children with neurologic and orthopedic impairments.  She  joined the Brightsong team in January 2014.

 

Jessica OJessicappenhuizen, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist

Jessica received her degree in Therapeutic Recreation from The University of Tennessee in 2013. She received her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2016. Jessica has worked with children and adults with special needs in a variety of settings and is a member of the Special Needs Ministry at Hope Church.  She joined the Brightsong team in July 2016.

 

Kristen Shadle, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist

Kristen received her degree in Exercise Physiology from Mississippi State University in 2013. She received her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2016. Kristen has worked with children and adults with special needs in a variety of settings.  She joined the Brightsong team in May 2017.

 

Amy Foster, MS.Ed
Developmental Therapist & Early Intervention Supervisor
Amy has been providing support and education services to children and their families since 2004. Amy received her Master’s degree in Special Education with a primary focus on Early Childhood in 2005.  Since then, she has worked with numerous children individually and in a classroom setting.   At Brightsong, Amy is a developmental specialist and provides individual developmental therapy to children.  She is also a member of the Bright Steps and Summer Steps team.  Amy administers developmental assessments and provides support to parents during IFSP and IEP meetings when requested.  Amy also works closely with parents and teachers to provide behavior plans for children at home and school.  She joined the Brightsong team in October 2012.

 

Shanda Bearden, MS.Ed
Developmental Therapist

Shanda has been providing education services to children since 2007. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2007 and her Master’s Degree in Education in 2008.  Since then, she has taught in a variety of classrooms across the United States and Japan. At Brightsong, Shanda is a developmental specialist and provides individual developmental therapy to children. Shanda administers developmental assessments and provides support to parents during IFSP and IEP meetings when requested. She joined the Brightsong team in August 2017.

 

Jason Baljason at clinicl, B.A.
Office Manager

Jason graduated from the University of Memphis in 2006 with a B.A. in History.  Since graduation, Jason has worked in a variety of business settings. He joined the Brightsong team in September 2010 and was promoted to Office Manager in April 2012.  Jason is responsible for running the office, working with the insurance billing company and coordinating therapy services.
